Poblano peppers are called Ancho peppers when they have been dried. Poblano in it’s fresh, green state makes the best chili rellenos ever! Native to Puebla, Mexico, Poblano are relatively mild. Mature pepper pods are somewhat stocky and grow to a length of 3-6 inches, becoming dark red. The plants themselves are fairly small, reaching a height of about 2 feet. 1,000 – 1,500 Scoville Heat Units.
